Imports of Automotive Products

Supervision of commercial importers

Supervisory agreements include 2-6 tests annually at the approved home offices/warehouses, certifications of supervision and appendix A, which allows the imported products to be released from customs.
Supervision of commercial importers

Release from customs of automotive products brought in via personal import

Release of automotive products imported by personal import from customs, requires authorization from an authorized automotive laboratory to confirm the product complies with customs’ specifications and the required standards.
Release from customs of automotive products brought in via personal import

Model and prototype certification

The laboratory examines the products and their documentation and provides a prototype certificate for the products complying with the IMOT requirements.

Vehicle Importers (Direct, Indirect, and Small-Scale Importers)

PDI (Pre-Delivery Inspection) Supervision Agreements

Inspections conducted before vehicle delivery, including compliance verification, local market adaptations, and mandatory system installations, in accordance with Ministry of Transport requirements.

Printing permanent licenses

The process in which the vehicle’s permanent license is issued and printed following tests and certification – unlike a temporary license that is issued when the vehicle is released from customs.

Model code:

An identification number for the vehicle that includes information on the manufacturer, the model, the type, the standard of finish, safety systems, and the like. Is used by IMOT and the tax system.

Initial registration test

The stage in which the vehicle is first registered in the IMOT vehicle pool. This is a condition for issuing a permanent license.

ISA (Intelligent Speed Assistance)

System for ensuring vehicle speed does not exceed speed limits – certification: this is part of the ADAS systems required in Europe and Israel to comply with the new safety standards.

Certification of vehicle autonomous and safety systems

IMOT requires standard certification for systems such as AEB (automatic emergency braking), lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and the like. This includes test and manufacturer’s validation.

Certification of special standards

Such as irregular lighting standards, police equipment, ambulances, vehicles for the disabled. These require special approval from the automotive department at IMOT.

Prototype testing

Prototypes of new models must be tested to certify the series for import. This occasionally includes testing in Israel as well.

Homologation of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) manufacturers

The process in which the model receives regulatory approval for import according to relevant standards.

Prototype Testing for Light Vehicles

At MAGAL we specialize in conducting comprehensive testing for light vehicle prototypes, before their importation. The testing is intended for importers who want to ensure that vehicle performance, safety and compliance with standards are the highest, before they are introduced to the Israeli market.
